grey area – not one thing or another thing (neither black nor white = grey)
stocking – big sock or legging used for holding presents at Christmas
lumps – a piece of something such as coal or solid sugar
pillow cases – the cover of your pillow – a pillow is the thing you rest your head
on when you sleep.
walnuts – big nuts that look like a brain when you open them
grappled with – had difficulty with a decision or problem
fair – consistent with rules, logic or ethics
spill the beans – an expression that means saying something that was secret or
private
log – part of a tree that has been cut – usually cylinder shaped
antlers – a horn with parts like branches that grow on the head of a deer
